Last year, the July Cosford show was acclaimed the best Large Model Show ever. This year the show was even bigger. There were approximately 150 models on display with many new 'mega-models' present. This short report and photographs indicates some of the  'action' over the weekend. If you click on a picture a larger version will open.

The show was another great success for the hardworking team placed under the control of Arthur Searl. A massive logistical job, which takes most of the year to arrange, Arthur can never be thanked enough for his efforts.

The informed commentary was provided by Colin Hammond. He has a different style to what has been seen before. He walks around the flight-line holding conversations with the pilots about their models as well as giving information about the current models in flight.

Unfortunately, the weather was poor compared to the glorious weekend last year (it has been quite a bad summer all round). We had some rain that occasionally stopping the flying and was worst on Saturday. The cross wind never helped either. This didn't dampen the spirits of the show too much though. There was plenty to see and the usual masses of trade stands to visit. Not to mention the fabulous Cosford museum.

The flying was at its usual safe and high standard. There was something for everyone.

Saturday evening was great fun. After eating, there was a variety of entertainment for the many hundred people camping on the airfield. The highlight being the kangaroo court for the reported actions of some LMA members. Held in the main marquee, the hilarious reports of offences were given and the 'Judge' pronounced his punishments.

A new feature at LMA events is a members hospitality viewing area and tent. This has been a great success. It has provided an opportunity for some of the new members, or members who don't usually get involved at the public events, to meet some of the regular flying crowd and catch the infectious  LMA enthusiasm.

Another new idea was the lunch time walk through the pitts area for the public. This proved popular and the funds raised were donated to an RAF charity.

So it was another good Cosford. A spectacular variety of models and the usual great and warm atmosphere. I'm looking forward to next year already. I wonder what surprises the organising committee and LMA members will have for us!
